David E. Shapiro joined the electrical trade to follow his dad.

Soon after earning his Master/contractor licenses, he benefited from the guidance of a few conscientious inspectors and Code authorities. He was soon active in the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, in online Code forums, and in volunteer work for safety groups.

Having taught at various levels, and having been trained in science writing, he also writes professionally. His writing and editing have focused increasingly on electrical topics.

You may know him as the author of Old Electrical Wiring, Your Old Wiring, Electrical Contractor magazine’s Residential Wiring column, occasional articles in IAEI News, and some of IAEI News’s most-read chapter reports.
